Apple has timed the launch of their latest offerings, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C to coincide with the holiday season of Diwali. This is the time of the year when retail sales shoot up in India, and retailers, online and offline alike offer customers with irresistible offers.

The expensive variant, iPhone 5S is estimated to be priced at Rs. 53,500 for 16 GB, Rs. 62,500 for 32 GB and Rs. 71,500 for 64 GB models.

The model designed for developing countries, iPhone 5C is a tad cheaper at Rs. 41,900 for 16 GB and Rs. 53,500 for the 32 GB variant.

While in US, a 16 GB unlocked iPhone 5S is available at $649, which is roughly about Rs. 40,000 and a 16 GB unlocked iPhone 5C at $549 – Rs. 33,000. The difference between the two markets can be attributed to the customs and other taxes that the Indian government fondly imposes.

The iPhone 5S comes with a 4″ retina display and is powered with a 64 bit 1.3 GHz dual core processor along with 1 GB DDR3 RAM. It has a primary 8 MP camera and a 1.2 MP camera for video conferencing. The phone comes in gold, space grey and black colors.

The iPhone 5C has an older 32 bit processor, 1 GHz dual core. Camera specs are similar but a number of fancy features such as dual-flash, slow motion video capture and a burst mode that captures up to 10 photos per second are omitted. However, iPhone 5C is colorful with yellow, green, pink, white and blue hues.

Even before the phone hits the market, iPhone 5S and 5C cases are doing rounds. It will cost anywhere between Rs. 3200 Rs. 1200 depending on the model you pick up.

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications have announced that the new iPhones would be available at their retail outlets from the 1st of November.
